&Ampersand Pitches

What makes each one stand out to you? What makes you believe these pitches would lead to great articles?Write a paragraph for each.

I chose this first blog because I liked the idea of him writing an article on how his internship experience was unusual. The reason I like that idea because I also had a very unusual experience during my internship, and saw some unusual things so I think that would drive my story and give me something interesting to talk about.

I chose this blog because I like her third idea about writing her article based on the unusual people she met at her internship. I like this idea because during my experience I definitely met a lot of strange people who would make my story amazing and very interesting, however it may cause my paper to have an age limit of who can and cannot read it.

I chose this last blog because I liked his first idea about writing his article about a typical day at his internship and describing his everyday experiences. I liked this idea because I can try and get the point across for sophomore's to make sure they choose an internship based on something like and start to search early because they may end up doing something they did not think they'd be doing-marketing.

& ampersand

Write out three "pitches" for three different Ampersand articles that you might write for this year's publication.

My three pitches for three different Ampersand articles are focusing on the economy and how everyone is losing their jobs and making a prediction in a way discussing how when we get older we would probably end up being stuck in the marketing business for a while and hope we move up in the company. Another idea I have for my article is also focused on the economy and talk about how difficult it is now to own your own business and the struggles of making ends meet. My final pitch is currently unknown, but the main idea I am aiming for is how the economy may effect our future and success.

articles

The reason I would use this article as inspiration for my article that will be published is because I really like how the man that interviewed Mr. Madoff, and the format it was in. Opposed to doing Q and A, instead he turned the interview into a story, I find interviews that are setup that way are more appealing to the reader and the author gets more across than they would in a normal interview. In a regular Q and A interview the author usually only includes their question and the person's answer, but if they were to set it up this way they get to include their opinions and give the reader something to think about without it being awkward and out of place.

The reason I chose this article to be a piece of inspiration while writing my article for ampersand is because I really love how this writer began as if he were having a conversation with someone instead of having this formal, professional article that's super boring. Personally I would rather read a story where the author is talking to me while telling the story, and asking questions that are unanswered and leave me wondering instead of one that tells me everything and has nothing different about it.

I chose this last article as my inspiration for the article I publish in ampersand because the fact that it's a book review meaning the writer is discussing her experiences as a reader and what she felt, what she thought while going through the experience. And in my opinion no writing is good writing if there is no personal experience involved, I feel without that it's dull and boring and really there was no point in writing it in the first place.
