Artist Statement Reflection

1. What aspect of the American Icons artist statement has been most successful for you? Why?

The aspect of my American Icons artist statement that is most successful to me would have to be the very last line in my concluding paragraph because I feel like it is very powerful and it leaves a sort of suspense, and has my reader wondering, and I feel like it concludes everything I talked about throughout my writing.

2. What writing tip(s) have been the most helpful? Why?

The writing tip(s) that have been most helpful to me would have to be concerts, not pancakes and the loop because usually when I write a paper I tend to put most of my effort into the first paragraph and the rest of the writing tends to be bad, but after hearing about the loop and the concert not pancakes method I realized how to make my writing more interesting to read, and make sure it begins and ends amazing!

3. What aspect of the artist statement has been most challenging? Why?

The most challenging aspect of my artist statement was coming up with a big idea, and staying focused on one topic because I have always had an issue with having so many ideas that when I incorporate them into one it ends up going off topic and making absolutely no sense.

4. What writing tip is most challenging? Why?

The writing tip that was most challenging for me was the loop like starting off your writing with one topic and concluding it with that same topic because the ending of you're writing has to be the absolute best, so that it's a concert opposed to a pancake so I had a little bit of trouble coming up with a topic that had a good start and a good end.

5. Post a section of your writing that you are currently working on. List at least three questions that, if answered, would help you improve your work.

How can I make this not sound so much like a biography?
Is there any major changes needed in this paragraph?
How can I make this paragraph stronger?
"I plan to become someone who fulfills their dreams and never quit on myself, or live based upon others expectations. I think that Joan Jett is someone who represented a person who didn’t care what others thought of her decisions, but someone who made sure what she did was her absolute best and pleased with her final product. Joan Jett started an all girl rock n roll group when she was a teenager and traveled around the world and didn’t let anyone tell her she couldn’t do anything. Even when her band members quit on their dreams, she continued on, and never gave up. Instead, she had a break through."
